P - G - A

Greetings!!

I am reading a great book right now:
Living a Life on Loan - Finding Grace at the Intersections
By Rick Rusaw and Eric Swanson

It has a formula or tool to help you prioritize your busy schedules and manage your time. It helps you to spend your time more effectively. So I thought I would share it.
It is called P-G-A

P is for Purpose.
Make purpose statements, to give a general sense of direction you are heading.
Make "to-be" statements.
For example; "I want to be a more effective leader" or "I want to be a better spouse"

G is for Goals
Goals are to-do statements.
Goals will help add some focus and clarity to your purpose statements. They are like a road map for the general direction you want to go. Goals also give you a way to measure the progress of your purpose.
If one of your purpose statements is "I want to become a better father", then you need to say "To be a better father, there are are some things I need to do. Then make some goal statements, like;
  • "Beginning on Sept. 1st, I will spend Tuesday nights from 6pm to 9pm doing something with my daughter that she wants to do (besides watch TV)"
  • "In Jan, I will take my sons on a 2 day ski trip"
  • "Each morning I will spend 10 minutes praying for each of my children about something specific going on in their lives"

A is for Activities
Now that you have made your purpose and goal statements. You need to make a list of all the things you are doing.
Then ask your self "Am I doing what I said I wanted to do to become what I said I wanted to become?"
If not, then ask yourself why. Make sure your activities help you to fulfill your goals and purpose.

Write your PGA down and review it regularly and it will help you to use your time with what matters to you most!

Have a wonderful day!

CALM DURING THE STORM

Greetings!!

I have gone through many changes throughout my life and lived different lifestyles.

There were periods of self destruction when I turned my back on God.
Then there were times when I walked with Him daily and devoted my life to him.

There is no comparison between these two lifestyles.
One is filled with love, joy, happiness, peace, strength and wisdom.
The other is only darkness hidden by false pretenses.

There are many wonderful things that come from a life spent living with Jesus in your heart....many of which I can testify to....

Here is just one that I have found to be true time and time again.
There can be a "hurricane" of a storm in my life, but yet there is calm and peace and joy inside of me and I am not rattled by the chaos going on around me.

God holds your hand and comforts you every step of the way and takes the burden for you. You trust Him to take care of the problem and give it to Him and in return, He give you peace....knowing it's in His hands. And after it passes, the sun will shine down on you again and you will have come through it with increased wisdom and have grown closer to God.

Have a blessed day!!

MARRIAGE

Greetings!

Sorry for late blogging today! Hope you are having a wonderful day so far!

I wanted to send a different message today, but something kept pulling me towards a message about marriage....so here goes!

There seems to be a simple recipe to a happy and long lasting marriage. But society has complicated it so much that we can't see the simplicity of it anymore!

Spend all your time and effort loving, honoring, respecting and pleasing your spouse.
That's it! This is all you have to do!

Don't spend your time worrying about if your spouse is making you happy, that's not why you entered into marriage. You married the person you love because you love who they are and if you pour out all your love on them, they in turn shower you with their love.

If you plant a flower, you have to give it what it needs, water and sunlight so it will grow. If you neglect to do this, it will wither and die. But if you give it the care and attention it needs, it will give off the beauty you wanted from it!

You can only receive from your marriage what you put into it....

This is something I have learned and lived and I have been married for 21 years....it's working so far!

Attached is a picture of me and my husband.

Have a wonderful day!

STRENGTH

Greetings!!

Permanence, perseverance, and persistence in spite
of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities:
It is this that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak.
Sir Francis Drake

This is a great truth.
As I look back at my life I realize that all the difficult times and struggles I went through were actually building blocks for the strength I needed to get through the next obstacle. And they have also equipped me to help others though their trying times. So now when I have a hard hill to climb, I embrace it as I know it will bring me growth, maturity, wisdom and strength.

God does this for us and to us. He is preparing us for great accomplishments for His Kingdom both here on earth and in Heaven. We have to go through "training" to gain our strength!

Like many people say, "If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it."
This is so true, God is always by your side every step of the way, guiding you and encouraging you to keep persevering.

Blessed is the man who keeps going on when times are hard.
JAMES 1:12 NIrV

Have a wonderful day!
Be strong!

YOUR LIFE

And sorry for my tardiness, I usually put this up early in the morning....

Let God have your life;
He can do more with it than you can!
Dwight Lyman Moody

Also, I have attached a picture of my beautiful granddaughter Kaitlyn!

HAPPY MONDAY

Happy Monday!!

I have wrote before about changing our perspectives....here's a great example of that.
Before I used to dread Mondays, like most people....
But since I have changed the way I look at life, being thankful for being so blessed, and seeing each day as a brand new start to make improvements and live a better life, I now actually look forward to starting a new week, just as I look forward to each new day!

Below is a great quote that says so well a great truth!

The more we count the blessings we have, the less we crave the luxuries we haven't.
William Arthur Ward

By the way, I am especially thankful today for my wonderful husband, who was so helpful to me yesterday and sent me a beautiful comment on yesterday's blog.
He is one of the most precious gifts God has given me!

Have a wonderful day!

GREAT WORDS & THANKS

Greetings!

Today, just a few quotes by Eleanor Roosevelt.

Many people will walk in and our of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

To handle yourself, use your head. To handle others, use your heart.

Great minds discuss ideas.
Average minds discuss events.
Small minds discuss people.

He who loses money, loses much
He who loses a friend, loses much more.
He who loses faith, loses all.

I wish you an awesome day!!

Yesterday was awesome for me, I was blessed to be able to spend the day with a group of Christians who minister to the homeless. For this experience, I am so very thankful!

SMILE AND BE THANKFUL

Greetings!

I don't have the inspirational message to share today that I want, but I have found a great quote by Mother Theresa to share with you.

I also want to keep reminding everyone to be thankful everyday... and so I will list some things I am thankful for each day, to help others find their blessings too!

Today I am thankful for the energy to finally get up and work out.
I am thankful for the hot shower that felt so good when I was finished exercising.
I am thankful for being able to wake up to my granddaughter kissing me goodbye before she went to school....what a beautiful way to start the day!
And I am thankful for the nice evening I spent with my husband.

We shall never know all the good
that a simple smile can do.
-- Mother Theresa

Have a great day!!

When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust Him fully and let go.
1 of 2 things will happen, He will catch you when you fall or He will teach you how to fly!
God closes doors no man can open & God opens doors no man can close.
God can shift things around for you today and let things work in your favor.

Have a blessed day and remember to be a blessing...

SUCCESS

Greetings!

This is a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson below. Even though I think there's much more to success than this, I think it's a great starting point! Enjoy your day!!

To laugh often and much,

To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children,

To earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends,

To appreciate beauty,

To find the best in others,

To leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition,

To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived,

This is to have succeeded.

LIVE YOUR LIFE

Greetings!

When you were born you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.

Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.....

DAILY GRATITUDE

Greetings!

Here is another short but poetic version of yesterday's message.......

Abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives.
When we choose not to focus on what is missing but on the abundance that's present -- love, health, family, friends, work -- the wasteland of misery falls away and we experience daily joy...

Enjoy your day of being grateful for all you are blessed with!

NEW PERSPECTIVE

Greetings!

This is a great way to change your perspective on life....I have done it and it's a wonderful way to live each day!

Wake up each morning by making a list of all the things that are good in your life, all the things you are grateful for. You can make a mental list, or write it down in a "Things I am Grateful For" journal...or you can thank God for all these blessings He has always given you...

Here is an example of some things I am grateful for:
My good health, I can see, hear, smell, taste, breathe, walk, dance, swim...

People in my life, great parents & sisters, loving husband, wonderful children, precious granddaughter, pastors...

Free country to live in, beautiful earth to live on, lovely sights to enjoy each day, sunsets, moonlight, ocean...

Income to provide for our family, car to get around in, never having to go hungry or thirsty...

I am also thankful for what may seem like everyday little things, like when our family's schedules permit us to actually all sit down to dinner together, or when a work day is rough and then someone makes you laugh and brightens your whole day...

Many times, even when I am going through a trial or difficult time, I try to be thankful for it. Because I know I will grow and learn from it and God will bring me through it.

If you do this each day, I guarantee that the list will grow longer everyday and soon you won't even remember the things that used to get you down...when you focus on the positive, you cancel out the negative!

When you use all your time and energy being thankful, worry and stress don't fit into your schedule anymore!

Looking at life through thankful eyes seriously changes the way you see things...you will find that there's not much that can get you down anymore!

Enjoy your day and be thankful for all you have been blessed with!

CARPE DIEM! (Seize The Day)

Today is a new day...brand new and all for you!!

What are you going to do with it? Seize it! Take hold of it and make the most of it!

It's a precious gift...you get to start all over...forget about yesterday and begin anew!
Make improvements...attitude, outlook, relationships
Start new projects...
Work on your list of things to do...
Stop and smell the roses, roll in the grass, listen to the ocean...

You cannot control tomorrow, so why worry about it?
Yesterday is gone and it's not coming back, so why dwell on it?

Eleanor Roosevelt wrote:
Yesterday is History
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift...we call it the present!

My wish for you is a great day with a fresh start, clean slate and great attitude!

Enjoy every minute to the fullest!

PROMISE YOURSELF

Promise yourself to be strong, that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything, and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Introduction

Welcome! This is my first time blogging, so bare with me during my beginnings....
I used to get these daily faxes at work with daily inspirations back in 2001 from a company we worked with and I used to love getting them each morning. I used to keep them and take them home and always wanted to put them together in a some type of publication to share with others....and now I have finally found the format. So that's how this blog is starting....not sure what it will turn into...and I just hope it will bring encouragement, inspiration & hope to people....I know these are things we can never have enough of.
